The operating procedure through ICL
Surgical risks can be kept down to a minimum with a responsible approach and our quality management system, although these can never be eliminated completely. But there are solutions to nearly every single complication, if the patient and doctor do the right things.
The use of the latest technology in our clinic and also an regular ongoing training from our stuff, the experience of the surgeons and of the whole team all make a decisive contribution to keeping risks to a minimum during ICL procedures.
A lens implant inside the eye is a routine operation, although there is a certain risk involved, as with any operation. The complications generally fall into one of just two risk categories:
1. Risks during or immediately after the operation
As lens surgery involves making an incision into the eye during the operation, in extremely rare cases this can lead to an inflammation of the inside of the eye, which requires treatment using antibiotics, or possibly even further surgery.
2. Long-term risks
In a very small number of cases, some older types of lens occasionally showed up changes in the interior of the eye. To prevent this, a routine check by a specialist eye doctor is advised after one to two years. If this check shows up any changes, which only happens very rarely, the problem can be dealt with exchanging the model of the lens.
So we can eliminate any potential risks as much as possible, detailed preliminary examinations and post-operative checks are provided as a matter of course at our clinic and we will be with you every step of the way. -
